The Gulabi Mela was the much eagerly awaited event of the LGBT community which was held on the 19th January 2014. The city noticed a great amount of zeal and zest among the people from the LGBT community and the streets came alive with the colors of the rainbow.
The Gulabi Mela started at 3:00 PM at Bhalla House opposite St. Andrew’s Church, Bandra and it encompassed a mind-boggling array of activities. There were over 15 stalls, live entertainment showcasing great Bollywood dance moves and steamy Zumba classes with Tabi, our favorite. The event witnessed some great piece of art and fashion ;courtesy The Azad Bazar which has always been a one stop lobby of LGBT Fashion Accessories and Clothing.
Remarkable games including “Taking down 377” & Lucky Draw with Kenny Boaz, and The Royale Casino with Aditya Yadav was the center of attraction.
While Sarang added a twisted flavor on his Panipuri, Anu and Sree took care of the Savoury and mouth watering Keema Patties by Neal were relished and greatly appreciated. Our little master Ankit entertained the masses with poster makings, and other events like Face / Tarot card reading, getting inked, photography and different workshops kept the mob busy and electrified till the end.
The event was not just bounded within the local crowd. The vibrant colors of the rainbow attracted many people from all over the city. Yaariyan events have always been the main attraction that draws travelers from across cities.
Therefore, Yaariyan events are regarded as the manifestation of the quintessential fun-loving spirit of the LGBT community in Mumbai at its sublime best.
